Next in the list is KTM 250 Duke with sales of 589 units in February 2020. YoY sales growth is an impressive 71.72%, as against 343 units sold in February last year. It may be recalled that 250 Duke was amongst the first KTM bikes to get BS6. Export numbers of 250 Duke have however fallen by -51.25%, from 560 units in February last year to 273 units in February 2020.

At number five is KTM 790 Duke with sales of two units in February 2020. KTM had high aspirations for 790 Duke in the Indian market, but its high pricing appears to have dampened consumer sentiments. To clear BS4 stock, KTM is currently offering hefty discounts on 790 Duke. Given the low sales, it is not certain if KTM will upgrade 790 Duke to BS6 standards. Exports of 790 Duke are also disappointing, as not even a single unit was exported.

By the end of this year, KTM has plans to launch other bikes such as KTM 1050 Adventure and 1290 Super Duke R. However, with the unprecedented global crisis emerging in the form of corona virus epidemic, it is possible that KTM may have to postpone the launch of these high-end performance bikes. Till things improve, KTM will most likely continue to focus on its existing bestsellers.
