The starting months of the year have seen OEMs of multiple categories rushing to update their products to BS6 specifications ahead by the deadline, 1 April 2020. Owing to this, we have witnessed back-to-back product launches in the Indian automotive market. This includes minor updates or facelifts as well as major updates or new generations of popular products.

Bajaj Auto has also updated almost all of its portfolio to meet the stringent emission norms. In fact, the Chakan-based two-wheeler manufacturer has introduced the Bajaj Dominar 250 to compete in the sporty 250cc category. Now, the updated Bajaj Pulsar RS200 BS6 has started arriving at dealerships.

While this is not a good time to go to your local dealership to check it out, the video by Burn Piston does cover the motorcycle in detail (in Hindi). The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has created a lot of confusion in global commerce as well as the Indian automotive industry. FADA (Federation of Automotive Dealers Associations) has already reached out to the Supreme Court seeking a solution to face the sluggish market caused by the outbreak — know more details.

Coming back to the 2020 Bajaj Pulsar RS200 BS6, the motorcycle remains visually identical as before, except for the addition of a reflector on either fork. The Racing Red red/white dual-tone colour choice you see here was already available with the BS4 model. The company might introduce a wider range of colour choices, but we have to wait for the official notification till then.

It was only recently that we shared some key details of the BS6-compliant avatars of the Bajaj Pulsar 180, 220, NS200 and RS200. The information came to light from a set of leaked ARAI documents. It was understood that the BS6 versions of the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 and NS200 made the same output. In the outgoing BS4 format, the naked NS200 made slightly lower peak power.

The Bajaj Pulsar RS200 BS6 is powered by a 199.5cc liquid-cooled FI single-cylinder engine that makes around 24.14bhp and 18.3Nm of torque. The output is the same as its BS4 avatar as well as the BS6 NS200. As mentioned before, the BS4 Bajaj NS200 made slightly lower power (lesser by around 1bhp). The power plant is mated to a 6-speed transmission.

The BS6 Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is priced at Rs 1.69 lakh, on road Delhi. This is about Rs 2k more than the BS4 Pulsar RS 200. The Bajaj Pulsar RS200 and NS200 siblings share their platform with the KTM RC 200 and 200 Duke at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan manufacturing facility.
